WAITING FOR A FERRY TO THE SOUTH ISLAND :

Waiting for a ferry can be costly if you stay in the city I usually go to the south coast . Here is an example of a place to park and wait for a ferry . There are lots of bays on the south coast I often park on the more exposed coast just meters from the breaking surf just beyond Lyall Bay .Oh and do not forget the Lyall Bay Surf Club Cafe for break fast lunch and dinner . Your visit to this cafe will be one of the high lights of visiting Wellington .

Generally on the coast I believe that if you have a fully self contained vehicle and you are waiting for a ferry voyage , you are then allowed to stay on the coast for two nights .These rules change all the time .

Unless there is a sign saying no camping . So here are some photographs of Princess Bay .on the South Coast on Queens Drive between Lyall and Houghton Bay .
