BANOCKBURN

From Cromwell Drive towards Banockburn a good 10 kilometers from Cromwell .When you come across a large old road sign made of rocks with the words Banockburn turn left onto the side road .Drive for about one kilometer and then without a photograph or a description you will see why I have just written this rave .

You will be stunned by the beauty .

But you will need to be self contained rated or you could just claim to be using the public toilet . 

There are lots of vine yards , banockburn has a real nice pub with friendly staff .A quite place ,rural with rock gorge and alpine views . 

ROARING MEG POWER STATION SOME SPACES FOR FREEDOM CAMPING . 

Heading down State Highway 6 towards Dunedin From Cromwell on your right hand side is a large river , further down 40 or 50 Kilomters is the Roaring Meg Power Station .There is a space or two to park and sleep over night .Even if you do not want to stay this power station site is worth a visit .Check your map and be prepared to pull over it is on a corner and when it is busy could be congested . [usually quiet]
