This Hokitika pub has been around since 1866 making it one of the country’s oldest pubs in New Zealand. Expect old fashioned service plus amazing pub food at the Pioneer. I love this old style pub!

    The Pioneer Hotel is seriously old, only 26 years younger than the Treaty of Waitangi! It has a homey, colonial British feel and is a great place to visit when you're wanting a classic pint and a good meal and a real sense of history.

      This is one of the oldest pubs in Hokitika and is likely to be used as a backdrop for the upcoming film The Luminaries. Definitely stop for a pint at Pioneer Hotel if you’re passing through and is a must visit during the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival.
