Plateau has been in Taupo for years and is a well known dining establishment amongst locals. They’re always busy and that speaks volumes for the quality of food served there. Their menu is award-winning, and their European base dishes and totally kiwi inspired at the same time. Locals love to order the Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé - filled with goats cheese, blue cheese, parmesan, walnuts, crispy bacon. And I do too! Definitely worth a stop when in Taupo.

For a classy night out fueled with great food and great wine, Plateau is the place to go in my books. Located in Taupo central, it’s the perefct date night spot, with a huge list of yummy boutique wines, international and NZ made. Monteiths beers are their chosen beer partner so for those who don’t quite like wine with their dinner, there’s plenty beers to choose from too!

If you’re not brave enough to wander into the unknown world of boutique craft beers, going the Monteith’s option is a safe, yet totally delicious bet. Their Summer Ale is the perfect Summer beverage, and ideal for those hot, hot days on the lake. Come Winter, opt for the smooth, smooth Winter Ale. Plateau has the entire Monteith’s selection - a beer for each taste bud!

Great wine , a full selection of Monteith's beer, and a cozy fireplace for you to enjoy that once-in-a-while date night. The staff are super freidnly, consistent in their service and you can enjoy your dinner in a totally relaxing setting. These guys also won the 2011 Monteith's Wild Food and Beer Challenge, so that says something!

Scrumptious food in a lovely environment

Lovely fire in the Winter months
