Prego’s pie certainly takes the crown for the most prestigious pie in the ranks, being nearly ten times as pricey as a small Muzza’s pie. Putting that aside, with Prego, you are paying for the experience - and the quality of both ingredients and location. Baked to order in flakey pastry, this lord among pies is served on potato mash with a port wine jus and promises to take your pie eating to a whole new level of sophistication. Fillings change regularly, so I suggest you save your pocket change and head there with an open mind and an empty stomach in anticipation of what your pie destiny may serve you.

Great new decor. Dark wood takes you back to being in Milan. Highlights were the fish special (cooked to perfection on a creamy risotto), the crunchy potatoes with their hint of garlic and creme brûlée. Never disappointing service. Outstanding for the last 26 years.

As a Ponsonby institution and beloved favourite, Prego needs no introduction. They've recently undergone a renovation with new chairs, new cutlery, a new outdoor sound system and new gluten-free options. The food remains as delectable as ever, and you can't go past one of their hearty Beef and gorgonzola pie for rib-sticking comfort eats.

Fantasic early evening with kids and teenagers, and weekday lunches. Sometimes overloaded with ad land luvvies but food always great and service exceptional

We've been going to Prego for over 20 years for lunch and dinner and we still go because it always has fresh delicious food great service and a fun atmosphere. Also it's always busy which is a good sign and the staff are really switched on. My daughter had her 10th birthday party there she's now 21 and she said it was one of the better parties she had. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Oh prego how I love thee! An institution on Ponsonby rd, I have never had a bad meal there and I have been going there for 20 yrs. the food is amazing and now that I have a daughter I very much appreciate their very well priced kids menu, this is her fav place too. The staff are friendly and awesome

I have been going to Prego for over 20 years. I love the fact that the food and service is always outstanding. It has a relaxed atmosphere but still retains class. My favourites are the vitello tonnato, calamari, suff and turf, and in winter the Prego Pie.

Looks, sounds, smells, tastes authentic and leaves you wanting to go back for more.
