Great for hangout for after work drinks on a Friday afternoon or catch up with friends over drinks during the weekend. They also have televisions so you can catch the latest rugby game. The interior is divided between pub and restaurant setting, so it's also available for those who want to sit down for a proper meal. Prices aren't anything to rave about, and they serve a range of beers and other drinks.
For a local pub this place is pretty good. It has all the essentials: sports tv to catch up on the latest games, dining area, lots of high tables and chairs, and also an outdoor area with tables to enjoy the sunshine on hot summer days. Drinks are reasonably priced, although the food is quite expensive, even for a pub. Its good if you're only wanting a few drinks with friends, rather than to sit down properly for a meal.
Fantastic as usual. I had the lamb and my partner the duck. Both were exceptional. For dessert I had the lemon creme brulee - it was one of the best I ever tasted - silky and smooth and came with a chocolate dipped cookie. We arrived at 6pm and were lucky to get a tabel so would definitely recommend booking.
GBS Bar & Restaurant is situated in the heart of Howick and has been around for a long time, hence why I was eager to go and check it out. We went on a Thursday night, which it was nearly full by the time that we arrived at 7pm, so I would definitely suggest that you make a booking beforehand. The restaurant provided a very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere for dining in and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly waitress and taken straight to our table.
