Yum yum and yummy! Puhoi valley cheese is a great place for a quuick stop or a long lunch. Meals and licenced the beautiful grounds make you want to just kick back and unwind. Also the cheese tasting is so good.

As a Kiwi girl there is nothing better than a hokey pokey ice cream. I always thought the best was the standard tub kind, dished out three scoops high into cones at the local dairy. I could not have been more wrong. On a visit to Puhoi Valley on the hunt for a few decent slabs of cheese , we discovered they make not only the best cheese and yogurt but the best ice cream as well. It was the most amazing hokey pokey ice cream I have ever tasted. Creamy and chunky, it was all I could do not to bathe in it. We also tried the mango, which was insanely good as well. The only thing we missed was their award winning chai ice cream - which was so popular it had sold out. Ah well, there is always next time! And there will be a next time - they only sell their ice cream at the cafe in Puhoi, but it's worth the trip.

My favourite autumn activity involves an escape to the country to devour delicious cheese. Puhoi Valley is a short drive from Auckland but once you rock up to its gorgeous wee cafe, you'll feel many moons away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their blue cheese is too-die-for, especially served with local fresh fruit or some quince paste and you get to hang out in a gorgeous historic village. Cheese makes my tummy and my brain feel happy, which is why I really love losing a few hours at this awesome local spot.

There's nothing quite like an escape to Puhoi to have you feeling refreshed and ready to face the rat race again. The staff are great, the cheese delicious, the kids playground and park fantastic and the ice cream to die for! Yum! #hair

A mere 40 mins from central Auckland and we were winding our way down lovely back country roads ( simple well signed posted turn off from the motorway north). A couple of k's and we found the Puhoi Cheese Shop & cafe. OMG KUDOS Puhoi Cheese. I'm very impressed and as for the cheese. Fabulous.. I bought 3 and got 1 free ( thank you for the voucher)... what amazing cheeses.. We bought a 6 year old parmesan ( OMG), a blue, and two quite different bries. Fabulous fails to describe them and not too pricey. I paid $27 for 3 good chunks. The cafe had some to die for looking ice cream selections.. a limited lunch menu (divine baps & filled rolls, salad & homemade pie. It was 3pm so we may have missed the good stuff). I'm sure it wont be long till they add a cooked selection. Best part is you can eat lunch while watching them make the cheese. The setting is lovely with a large fountain in the little river nearby, an excellent playground for childtren and large run-around areas. What a gem for a Sunday country drive.

I have tasted some great cheese from here and heard great reviews. Love to go here on my way north!

Mmmm delicious cheese! Be sure to try their gruyere. I enjoyed reading about the ways different types of cheeses are made

This place an one of the best places to spot when heading up north. It is really well located and have wonderful scenery all around it. Not to mention the amazing array or incredible cheese, I could spend a fortune in a place like this!

The grounds are lovely, and the drive there is quite pleasant too. I was a bit disappointed with the service, or lack thereof - waited a long time to be served, our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and when we went to buy some cheese the person behind the counter disappeared and never came back. In the end I didn't even get to buy any cheese, the whole reason we went! When our drinks did come they were quite nice. I really want to give more than 3 stars, but that's all I can at this stage sorry. Maybe next time :)

Great to see and try all the lovely cheeses but also great just to get a creamy icecream and enjoy it in this pictureque spot.
