The park has a lake and waterside promenade which gives ample opportunity to feed the ducks.

The tree-lined park seems to house varied wildlife with swans a regular appearance. Moving around you'll notice deer in a fenced off paddock. Some are quite small and will definitely remind you of Bambi!

Adjacent to the park is the Waipoua river and there is an old crossbridge which is worth a stroll across. On your return across the bridge you'll pass tennis courts and playing fields. Great for kids to run wild.

We stopped here on our way through Masterton for a picnic a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely! The trees provide shade from the sun and the park kept our daughter busy and used up some of her energy!

Take a picnic to the park and settle under a leafy tree and relax. Children will love the Kids Own Playground which has lots of slides, bridges and swings to play on. The flying fox is also a drawcard as well as feeding the ducks at the lake. If your kids are skaters or into scooters, take them to the skate park or if they’re more animal lovers, head over the bridge to check out the deer park.
