An annual trip out to Red Rocks is one of my favourite things to do! Keeping in mind it is a half day trip, eventually finding the elusive seals makes it all worth it. While walking along Red Rocks you will be truly stunned out the landscape in front of you, it often becomes hard to believe that this beauty is right around the corner from my dingy student flat! The waves, the rocks and the charming little houses dotted far and few along the coast, they all make for one of my favourite walks in NZ! Just to top it off, if you go at the right time of the year you'll be greeted at the end by hundreds of seals. Definitely worth the walk, and something everyone must do when they come to Wellington!

Journey out to Red Rocks and you will give yourself a fantastic half day walk, and the chance to maybe see some seals if you go round further the Sinclair head. The geology of the place is a fantastic site and the walk offers up some great historical sights, and as it’s only a half-day trip, it’s entirely achievable even for those on ‘busy’ schedules.
