Great Rogan Josh, just the right amount of hot!

Great meal awesome selection with a group check it out if your in the area

They have menu items here that you won’t find on most Indian restaurants in New Zealand. Sure they have the butter chickens and mango curries to satisfy the unadventurous, but they also have the amazing Gongura curries and much more. Entrees galore and all traditional, authentic and delicious.

Love

Satya has a unique spin on Indian curries. They are of South Indian origin and many are spiked with ginger and tamarind. There is a large vegetarian menu and many unusual entrees to choose from such as the masala dosas and uthappam. A must have dish is the dahi puri which I like to call ‘Indian nachos’ - they are small papadams with a potato topping, a tangy tamarind sauce and yoghurt. The palakura cheese curry is also a crowd pleaser and the dal makhani will have you going back for seconds.

Don’t be fooled by the shabby decor, dinner here is a taste-bud sensation! Yes, the staff are very friendly and the seating is comfy, but it’s the food itself that takes the prize. I’d highly recommend the Dahi Puri, pictured. It’s a hard, crispy shell with potato inside, topped with yoghurt, tamarind paste, chutney, fresh herbs and ground spices and oh my god is it delicious. I also love their Dosa, a thin pancake with crispy edges, with curry inside, rolled up and served in slices. So yummy! Good prices and you can even BYO wine, like we did! Loads of great vegetarian options! Get into some scrummy South Indian cuisine!

Satya often looks like it couldn't possibly be a good place to dine at lunch time - it's rarely full and it looks a little cold - but even if it's empty, it's still worth it and it's a lunch time fave when I',m K Rd bound. The lunch specials mean you get great fare around the $10 mark and there are a range of items to choose from. Do make sure you get the lunch menu when you sit down, as they sometimes don't bring it out.  I once saw Peta Mathias in here, so if someone who is obsessed with good food finds it delectable enough, it's good for the rest of us!

The food here is great, we have been going here for years. The service could use some work though, not always friendly and also, invest in some air conditioning!
