The venue's not flash and it's one of many in this area but Satya stands out as a bit of a star I reckon. The staff are really lovely and there's an incredible range of options (much more than I'm usually faced with as a veggie).  My one small quibble would be that although the saag aloo was incredible it wasn't as spicy as I was expecting for a medium. Maybe I should have been more specific though. Service was speedy though and it was less that $40 for two curries -  hard to beat.

Satya serve up  range of traditional South indian food which is totally different to the butter chicken you might be used to. The cuisine is heavy on seafood though there are very tasty Vegetarian options available as well. Try the Uttapam for something a little different the next time you're in. Or the hugely popular Dosa (A huge pancake stuffed with various fillings...potato is our favourite.)

Delicious aromatic flavours waft sensuously out the doors to the restaurant, enticing hungry patrons through their doors with wide eyed delight. Scrumptious vegetarian options litter the menu, and although its best not to count the calories when dining out, you can’t help but feel like this is the best way to eat Indian. They do offer all the same curries as come standard in Indian restaurants around Auckland, but the way they cook their dishes, and the many new and interesting options I hadn’t seen before make this my number-one pick for Indian restaurant of Auckland.

Best South Indian restaurants in the city offering crispiest Dosas one of a kind sambhar, coconut chutney & tomato ginger chutney.......

Beautiful south Indian food that's a welcome contrast to the usual Western-ised dross. In terms of the actual food, it's one of my favourite Indian places. But it's also a little pricey, and service can be slow.

And that's a big call with a lot of great Indian in the area.  Again, no matter which location you go to, you've got to get the dahi puri!

Amazing amazing food. You'll go for the curry but you'll come back for the Dahi Puri - it's the stuff fantasies are made of. The decor isn't that flash but how often does the best ethnic food come with flashy decor?
