This place is a very cool spot to pop in for good Supreme coffee and delicious breakfasts. I ordered the saffron potato hash with poached eggs, caramelised leeks, mushrooms and hollandaise sauce , which was so delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly, everything worked together really nicely. They have all the classic breakfasts, but they are all done with an extra gourmet flair, plus some meals that were different and interesting. The staff were super friendly too - so well worth a visit.
There's a time and a place for excess and we seem to think that Friday and friend's houses fit this bill pretty nicely, so it was on a Saturday-morning-after that I crawled out from under the leopard-print throw on my mate's sofa and beseeched my trusty iPhone for answers on the nearest quality establishment for a decent brunch. Fortunately for me, there's plenty to both savour and devour at this Richmond Road treasure trove.
Pro: Open till 5pm Con: atmosphere, staff, pastry At first I was excited that this cafe is open till 5pm. I had high expectations as I had been in there a long time ago and read good reviews about it, but my expectations were disappointed, but maybe I'll have to give it another try on another day. This time, I didn't enjoy the vibe or atmosphere and didn't find the staff very friendly. I liked that they sell KeepCups and offer a free drink with it if you buy one. But they only had 1 on stock. The coffee was very good. The pastry which I tried was yummy, however tasted very raw inside. A couple of smiles by the staff would have made a huge difference I believe!
I have been going to this cafe since it first opened. I miss it being open all afternoon to evening as it was a great place for drinks and bruschetta. The baking on the front counter is welcoming and homely. I love that the cakes change and there is something different to try with your coffee. For brunch you can't go past the salmon and potato hash with hollandaise. A wonderful alternative to eggs benedict. There are many great things on the menu for lunch and breakfast, don't get stuck on ordering the same thing each visit. If you are a coffee connoisseur, never fear this place does great coffee.
