Shop Eight has now become a wine bar, and a really good one. Wine from around the country fills in the wine list and the locally sourced meats and veggies come cured and picked for a build your own platter. It’s so good!

Hands down my favourite restaurant in Christchurch. Shop Eight literally changes their menu every day so you’ll never eat the same meal twice. With 95% of produce being sourced from Canterbury, you should expect only the best from the smallest restaurant in town.

The future’s desirable collectible design will be from rekindle, you can almost guarantee it. It’s recycling with a conscience, where salvaged weatherboards from houses demolished after the earthquake are fashioned into chairs, tables, desks and toys by some skilled creative locals.

Great coffee and just a nice place to hang out, very relaxed atmosphere.

Rekindle, the local initiative which turns waste wood from demolished homes into accessible furniture, jewellery and art has set up a permanent shop on New Regent Street.

Sharing a space with Rekindle (the local initiative where reclaimed timber gets turned into beautiful furniture), Shop Eight is an instant classic. You’ll find plenty of reasons to linger over your flat white here. This café is truly lovely with its minimal interior featuring wooden floorboards, beautiful blue espresso machine and white tiled walls
