Free movies, blankets, good food, fun times!

Silo Park has plenty of parking spaces , it is green and open .Silo Park is right on the water front and when there is not an event on it is a place to hang out .Close to cafes and a cheaper parking rate compared with downtown Auckland City . Go to the end of Hamer Street to find even more parking and a great fishing spot . [ 6pm till 6am free parking in a lot of areas ].

Def the best thing to come out of the Rugby World Cup in my opinion! This is a lovely place to walk around and has events on frequently! Throughout the summer, they do screenings of films, which you can watch outdoors from the park. Everyone brings blankets, rugs, pillows, picnics and wine and gets cosy. The first one I went to was on a date! It was such a perfect date activity. We snuggled and drank wine and watched The Labyrinth! Other times I have gone with groups of friends, as pictured. They have sweet night markets with great food stands. The Mexikai truck has been frequenting there recently, which I have been very pleased about! The playground is really good. Lots of fun things, all in meticulous nautical theme, for kids and adults alike to play on. There is a really pretty water feature with an installation sculpture hovering over, which I like too. Also, you occasionally get to see a drunk person fall in it!  :/ Located right next to the string of great restaurants and bars along the Wynyard Quarter, you can always pop in somewhere for a meal or a drink too. The cinema screenings were free and I would like to thank Silo Park for putting them on! One of the highlights of my summer!

We love the playground, we love the music, we love the markets, we love the cinema, we love the sculptures..... what's not to love!

The Silo Park movies is the best thing since sliced bread.  Pull a picnic banket, a towel, a bean bag, a deck chair anything goes and most people seemed seasoned professionals at it down there.  Yummy food on hand- tacos, paella, pizza, pies, churros, popcorn and coffee.  Otherwise take you own picnic basket with wine and cheese.  Go go go, its so fun. Snuggle up warm though, it can get chilly down there.

Be introduced to this iconic chick flick at the most dramatic of cinema venues - projected onto the side of the majestic Silo 7 in Wynyard Quarter - or fall in love again with a romantic comedy that more than lives up to its reputation as a genre classic.  WHEN Friday 8/03/2013 9:00PM PRICE Free

Silo Park is a gem! Been here a few times for random walks and festivals. There always seems to be something going on near or int he park itself

What a great time last night. I couldn't believe the positive community spirit around the Silo Park movies last night. Free to enter (parking up to an hour is free in the lot across the street) plus coffee, Mexi Kai food and others. So many people huddled in blankets, all quiet, there to watch the movie. This park is awesome, and the movies at night a special treat.

Love the movies at Silo too. Wish they ran all year.

Silo Park is the ‘it’ park for those gangsta kids and Tweens! They have a pretty cool playground & cool basketball courts. They have some pretty interesting architecture going on too! Some summer nights they even have movie nights! What a perfect end to your summer night! It’s like drive through movies except this is sit-wherever-you-can-and-enjoy-the-movie! Awesome if you want to try something new and feel like a cool kid for once ;)

Not for everyone, but discovering a piano hidden at the base of a silo is my idea of a great find! You'll find this guy close to the water at Silo Park, and plenty of other quirky, fun spots to hang out at close by.
