A lovely place to visit any time of the year, this reserve was established in 1985 and continues to be a popular campsite for locals and visitors alike. The area is a lot of mining history and has loads of excellent day and over night walks to enjoy.

After a treacherous 17km drive that’s not for the faint of heart, you’ll arrive at a historic ghost town of an old gold rush settlement. The school house is always open and contains artefacts found around the area, with displays that describe the history of the settlement and the methods of extracting gold from the hills and Skippers River. The campsite ranger told us there’s still gold to be found in the river after a heavy rain.
