Sky tower is an icon in Auckland but you sure do pay to gte to enjoy it. The entire experience is great fun as you can stand on the glass floor and look down to the city. I think it is a must do for everyone visiting auckland and probably a do once in your life at some point thing. The only thing that lets it down is that it is pretty expensive to go up there. Loving how the light up the tower different colors each month! The pink for the breast cancer month looks great!
We are only in auckland for half a year, so we heard of the voucher for a free visit skytower in the auckland guide booklet, big effort to find this booklet, went there and the lady at the entrance smiled and said "$25 dollar please" gutted and confused, this voucher says free but is only a 10 % off voucher, cheeky !!! "no thanks!" didn't go up sydney tower, why auckland - sorry but not worth $25. Also we met a local "John" this weekend, he went up there for dinner with friends and was disappointed, not worth it the money, he said. If auckland would be the place, I wanted to visit for my holiday I prob would spend the money to go up there on a sunny afternoon and watch sunset, but if you are here to save up and work - not really.
I know they have to keep this place running but to be honest, apart from being an icon to Auckland city and making our sky line look great Sky Tower is just an over priced $28.50 view o the city. My advice would be to go up Mt Eden for free, get out of the car see the stunning views and get some beautiful fresh air. Although the one cool part to the Sky Tower is that you get to stand on their glass floor and look beneath you. But for the price of almost 2 movie tickets just to see a view? No thanks
If you are wanting to check out the city from a really good vantage point then this is the place for you! Not only do they have incredible 360 degree views, but they also have food and tourist information including what's actually out there in the city. Great place to drop in when you first get to Auckland to see it is all it's beauty!
The Auckland Sky Tower is a must see tourist attraction, even for the locals! The views are gorgeous and the glass floor provides a thrill for many. The elevator is the best part. Zooming up the tower at crazy speeds and watching the elevator shaft through the glass floor is scary. At night, the tower turns into a bustling hub of great food and wine. Two restaurants in the tower itself and one even rotates! Food is always superb and staff are helpful. Well worth the travel from the North Shore for dinner as you can experience the wonder of Auckland city at night.
I love walking past the sky tower and looking up it always looks like its falling over. (Trippy)! And everynight it changes color and sometimes it looks pretty cool from my house when its like green or purple or something.. But the price to get up there is ridiculous no offence on your national treasure but if I didn't go up the tower in Sydney, why would I do it in Auckland for $25? $25 dollars for a lift up a tower, it's polite day light robbery. The staff might as well be wearing a striped jumpers and a masks. Long live Blackpool tower!
It was second time for us when we taking our son to skytower. He was so happy and excited looking through from glasses windows, cant stop looking for cars from top. Since then he cant stop talking about sky tower and he is building all lego sky tower. Great for kids and recommended for oversea visitors.
