With Rugby World Cup season here for the next few months, I know I’ll be at the Speights Alehouse in Hamilton nice and early, all wrapped up and warm for the All Black's big games. I love the atmosphere in the Speights Alehouse - it’s kiwiana-ness, and the general all round good times experienced there.

    Although you might not think of Speight’s as craft beer, at the ale house in Hamilton, you’ll find a healthy selection of their craft range - including the amber wheat (my personal favourite), porters and pale ale.

      Good food. Good beer.

          Family friendly, good value, laid-back place for a burger. Hefty patties with lots of juicy extras. Heaps of crunchy salad, bacon, cheese, beetroot chutney, bbq sauce, onion rings on a toasted sourdough bun. Delish. Beef or chicken, both coming with fries. Lots of other options on the menu for the non-burger fans, and plenty on offer for the kiddies. Busy, homey spot.

            Even though it is a bit out of the central city this is a spacious bar with good food and a good range of Speights beers, which makes it a good place to start out a night out.
