Accurately named, Spicy Joint is not for the faint-hearted. Generous with both heat and portions, this place is great for shared platters if you dine in a big group. Open until late, Spicy Joint really hits the spot when your taste buds are craving some authentic Chinese goodness.

Their hand pulled noodles are noteworthy, and the service is attentive and friendly. Complete with old Chinese movies showing on a small screen to add to the ambiance, if you are looking for cheap, cheerful (and spicy) Chinese cuisine, stop at Spicy Joint for a bite.

Is exactly that. They specialise in heat. Great service. A menu to try all chilli tolerance levels. Try the pork hock casseroles in spicy soya type sauce. This will have you jiggling in your seat grappling for a sweet drink or hallucinating swimming pools. If spicy isn't your buzz they have mild or non chilli dishes or order a lemonade.

Spicy Joint used to be the best place in balmoral, and one where you could expect to truly get a spice attack. Unfortunately it seems lately they have toned down the spice, possibly because customers complained. To me this is like walking onto a paintball range and complaining that you got paint on your shoes. The menu is still great, with a wide range of szechuan cuisine. The decor is underwhelming, but a place like this is designed with food in mind.
