One of Auckland's most recognisable cultural icons/landmarks - the St James Theatre sits in the heart of the city of sales on Queens street. The theatre itself has been the venue for many of New Zealand's most important cinematic and theatrical events.

Built almost a century ago in 1928 - the venue features Spanish colonial style interior, ornate lighting, intricate detailing and colour throughout recalling the grandeur of theatres of old and has been refurbished several times to maintain its immaculate appearance.

The St James Theatre and I have had a long and tawdry love affair and I'm glad that my favourite Auckland venue is finally back in business. There's a whole heap of awesome plans for the refurbished theatre and it's great for the city to have another live venue where artists, musicians, comedians and performers can ply their craft. I love the fact that nothing has been sacrificed in its rebuild and that every bit of history and nostalgia that's imbued within its walls remains. It's an exciting time and a fantastic venue that deserves every Aucklanders support.
