Brearley promptly set out to advertise his new innovation. He called his new metal rustless steel. Sheffield, known as a city of cutlery makers, and the new material, a herald of the present 420, appeared to be an ideal substitution for silver or nickel plated steel. Be that as it may, producers were reluctant, so Brearley had one make him a few blades. One producer, Ernest Stuart, after testing the material in vinegar recommended a more attractive name of “stainless steel”. By 1914, the George Ibberson and Co, utilizing stainless fabricated by Thomas Firth and Sons, started delivering stainless steel blades. The item was not a prompt achievement, and Brealey soon earned the notoriety of being the creator of the “blade that would not cut”.
