Surf Highway 45 is a stunning coastal road which begins in New Plymouth's CBD and terminates at Hawera.

Passing through some of the Taranaki's prominent surfing spots including Ohawe, Opunake and Oakura, you can learn to surf en route or relax one of the many secluded beaches.

You can also enjoy fabulous views of the Egmont National Point where you can hike up to its spectacular centre point Mount Taranaki.

Other attractions along the way include the fabulous Oakura Arts Trail, the historic Koru Pa and Parihaka Pa, the Cape Egmont Lighthouse, Taranaki Thermal Spa and numerous cafes.

One fantastic thing about living on the west coast in Taranaki is being able to go for a drive with the sea on your right and the mountain on your left. Surf Highway 45 is exactly how it sounds; the ocean is always in view and is the perfect way to pro long the summer with your mates!
