The Dressing Room occupies a sunny nook on the first level of The Department Store and it is home to intimates by Lonely, Miss Crabb, Penny Sage and also sleepwear from Australian brand Alas which uses organic cottons in super cute prints. You can also browse the filmy silk Miss Crabb dresses, cleverly cut garments by Otsu and the full range of Lonely Hearts.
Takapuna’s The Department Store totally changed the face of the previously tired seaside suburb when it opened a few years ago, and it constantly offers some of the city’s best retail therapy. Recent arrivals include a careful edit of I Love Ugly, Sylvester and Ruby’s latest collections, as well as beautiful lingerie in The Dressing Room.
Every time I go to The Department Store there is the crisp smell of freshly ground coffee - so I just have to get a latte before I walk around the store. I then embark on looking at what Stolen Girlfriends Cub have created - with their chic and softly tailored clothes they're one of my favourite labels to buy (and NZ designed). Then I make my way to the Kate Sylvester range of shoes - I always get so excited when I go near them they're so beautiful and have a very 1950's tailored style. Then you go up stairs and there is the lingerie boutique which has everything a girl could want to take home from lingerie to skin care ranges and the fun does not stop there upstairs is Stephen Marr and his amazing salon where you can pamper yourself with a quick blowdry and make yourself look fabulous for the rest of the day! This is why I love this store - everything you could ask for in one store!
The Department Store has so much to offer - Topshop, Karen Walker, Black Box, Nature Baby, Ruby, Stephen Marr, The Vitrine and more but my favourite corner is the offerings from Annie Oxborough at Simon James. I own a few of her macramé plant holders and there are always more in new lengths fanning the fire every time I visit. Her terrariums are delightful as are her inventive solutions for potting plants up in less ordinary vessels.
Went there for a Topshop "Sale" it is still too expensive for me, but love the set up of the store and also the spa on the second floor, looks well relaxing and posh. They have a little range of topman and topshop stuff, but not the best choice of styles. If you know you how cheap you can get this overseas not worth it. But just for a visit looking at nice clothes-YES.
