Stopped in at the Franklin for a beer with a mate after work. Wanted to sit outside for some fresh air and was really impressed with the outdoor space they had at the back of the bar. Real attention to detail with padded cushions on the wooden benches and outdoor fire place. It was a great place to relax and I can see how it would be pumping towards the end of the night. Can't wait to come back and try the food!
Really impressed with the place. Its in the same venue that used to be Sponge on Ponsonby Road, but gone is the dark, enclosed atmosphere and in its place a breezy, open gastro pub that is a lot more inviting. There's a huge communal table towards the end of the venue and I think a great touch - there's also private booths too and a nice little outside garden bar. I enjoyed the house white and as for the tapas the croquettes were to die for as was the liver pate (and i dont usually like pate) but yum yum we definitely be back
