If you bring along a group to the Hungry Bear then you can be guaranteed that everyone will enjoy something from their extensive menus.

Their speciality is the banquet with all the usual Chinese offerings like steaming piles of egg foo yong, fried rice, sweet and sour pork and spring rolls. But they also have a huge variety of other tastes such as fish and chips, roast dinners, fried chicken, Malaysian, Thai and Mongolian.

Don't forget to check out their dessert bar either with a dozen different cakes, including pavlova, on display to munch through.

Chinese takeaways is my favourite kind of takeaways. I purposefully choose a takeaway container that is one smaller than I think I will be able to eat because it becomes a personal challenge to cram as much food into it as possible without the lid flying off sending sweet and sour pork across the dining room. When I want to eat in with my mates over a BYO in Wanganui then I pop into the Hungry Bear. Mainly for their all-you-can-stuff-into-your-belly -banquet which includes a fully stocked DESSERT BAR!
