“I have only ever had good nights at The Kings Arms. And I’ve been here for a number of different things. Whether it is an industry function, dinner, a sweaty gig, or a mellow musician, The Kings Arms has always provided the perfect venue. The stage is very well equipped for musicians of all levels of skill which is great for private or public nights. The bar is well stocked with great beers on tap and all the spirits you could ask for. Staff are friendly, but can be pretty short with you if it’s busy, understandably. There is many a good night to be had here. If you see an artist playing.” here, be sure to get amongst.”

The Kings Arms has to be one of the most iconic as far as Auckland music venues go. I've seen up and coming bands here as well as some well-established international rock acts - and every time has been a blast. You can feel the unique history and culture of the venue/ bar as soon as you walk through the doors. It's not just myself and my friends that come here, my parents have been coming here for years too! Rock music fans will never let this place die.

One of the best places that ive held an event at. They made it super easy for me to book the venue, no issues at all. Love it

An Auckland institution! I've seen so much amazing live #music here and it's always a blast! It's got a gritty pub atmosphere which makes those rock gigs even better. Hope I'll still be coming to the Kings Arms when I'm old and grey.

The Kings Arms is one of Auckland’s oldest, most-loved live music venues, and with good reason. They host a huge variety of artists; both local and international. I saw The Dresden Dolls play here a few years ago, the quality of sound was simply outstanding, and even though I was near the back there was still a great intimate feel to the show – like the band was always within arms reach of the audience. It’s also a thrill to see my own friends play regularly on the same stage, as the K.A. is hugely supportive of hosting young, local talent and competitions like Battle of the Bands. The outdoor area is definitely a big drawcard for this venue, it’s huge – bigger than the interior itself – and populated with plenty of tables so you can distance yourself from the live show entirely if you’d rather just chat to other patrons. Some of the bar staff can be a little gruff, but they get the job done and are very adept at lip-reading when the music is booming. Check their gig schedule but many weekend nights here will provide an authentic, gritty, rock experience for a very reasonable door charge (often $5-$10 for local bands).

Legit!

Great beer garden!

In my opinion the best place to watch live music in Auckland. Depending on the band, you might need to get in quick for tickets - the place hosts some big international acts that would normally play in venues 3 or 4 times the size. Mark the sound engineer knows the room like he knows his mother - well - so you’re ears are treated. Don’t be fooled by the seedy old men out front of the sports bar side of this place, they’re friendly.

Fancy going out to check out a live band? If you haven’t been to the Kings Arms yet then I really don’t know how you have survived in the Auckland music scene. They have an awesome outdoor area, so if you’re a smoker then you’re all set to go!
