Whatever their 'soup du jour' is at Ohakune's Powderkeg Bar and Restaurant, I'm one happy chick slurping it down after a day of boarding. Their soup is technically an entree, but Powderkeg's entrees are pretty big and could easily pass off as a main meal. Definitely worth a try this coming snow season.

The Powderkeg is the place to go to get a great brew after an epic day on the mountain. They pride themselves on their wide selection of boutique beers and create an ever-changing menu from what's available seasonally in the region. As local ski town insider and well-known Ohakune rider Rodger Baker says, "Coming down off the Maunga, it's the first stop because of its ambience. It's a local hub."

Couldn't fault my trim latte, great place to stop off for a morning coffee before heading up the mountain.
