Formally the Oasis Cafe, the cafe has recently been taken over by a local family group who are keen to promote fresh food from the Nelson area. Ideal for al fresco dining, the outside garden has lovely views of the river Maitai. There is a good range of breakfast and lunch dishes along with daily specials, a tempting pastry cabinet and some local wines and craft beers With nice modern decor and a children's play area, bring the whole family or relax outside with a coffee and cake and make friends with some seagulls. There are plans to open for dinner in the near future so watch this space!

This cafe has had a revamp over the last year or so and is now a cool, hip cafe with great menu and service and the best location in Nelson, right next to the Maitai River. Sit outside in the sun and watch the ducks on the river, enjoy the sunny weather and good coffee. Awesome.

    On a sunny day these guys probably have the best location in Nelson, right by the river at the northern end of Trafalgar Street. The new owners have transformed this cafe into a lively, welcoming place by the river with good lunch food, coffee and service. It's handy for the cinema and the information centre, and right on the Maitai walkway

      Great location for a Sunday Brunch - this cafe is right by the river and on the footpath/cycle way so you can drive, bike or walk here. River Kitchen recently changed hands and it's safe to say that the new owners are doing a great job. Fabulous location - central city but nice an quiet on the river. Great coffee and food, good place to check out.
