Mexican food is my absolute favourite, and Thunderbird Cafe does it so well. Their Wellington on a Plate menu was awesome this year, and the burger on their regular menu is one of my favourites in all of Wellington. Highly recommend Thunderbird! #cafetab

For when Sweet Mother’s is too far away, there’s Thunderbird, a great little restaurant in a part of town where the pickings are slim. As such, it can get pretty packed at lunchtime, but there’s usually a corner you can squeeze yourself into for some curly fries or a quesadilla.

From the people that brought you Sweet Mother’s Kitchen comes Thunderbird! With the same mix of Mexi-Kiwi food, including the infamous curly fries, a lengthy food menu at all hours of the day, beer/wine/cocktails and All Press coffee, it’s great for people-watching - but gets pretty busy at lunchtime! They will also deliver their deliciousness to your office or event in the CBD.

I was meeting a friend for lunch. They suggested here. Had a great time. Mildly alarmed it took so long for me to realise it existed. Paranoid that people are deliberately hiding it from me, keeping it from me as punishment for some inadvertant slight. My life doesn’t deserve things as nice as Thunderbird.

A brother business of sorts to Sweet Mothers Kitchen (or at least it was originally, I don’t know if it still is?), Thunderbird brings the wonders of Mexican/New Orleans informed food to the Lambton Quarter. The decor is wonderful, the staff are super friendly (and have really good senses of humor), and the food…OMG Today I had Chilli Curly Fries, which is curly fries with chilli nacho beans, sour cream, gucamole and melted cheese! My sister had a beef and onion ring burger. Both dishes were A+

Possibly the coolest cafe down the "business" end of town, Thunderbird has the Cuba Street vibe just with a few more suits at lunch time. The food is hearty and delicious with a range of cabinet food available for you to grab if you’re in a hurry.

Looking for huevos or burritos and work in the city? This place is your answer. Gets awful busy during lunch but totally worth checking out.

When looking for something different you must try Thunderbirds Milkshakes they are just awesome! This was our second visit and we brought 6 out of 7 in our team. They have the traditional greats; strawberry, chocolate etc and if your looking for something different you could try; banoffie pie or snickers (quoted ‘the best milkshake ever!’) They serve a selection of yummy food too, burgers/tacos were our favourites. Least not I forget the most important super friendly staff and there great service, you must try! Enjoy.

Pulled pork burrito is amazing. Chocolate milkshakes fantastic. Staff friendly and a little quirky. This is a colourful, fun place to have lunch and the ginger crunch is also very yummy. If you've got a big group be sure to book as it's always packed - and for good reason!

Fantastic food - wonderful milkshakes and awesome friendly staff.
