Wow! First time trying the Teriyaki Akaroa Salmon dish at Tokyo Club. So fresh, so tasty and such a great price at $15. This is my new favourite lunch spot!

        Tokyo Club Izakaya, Ponsonby Central

          I do love to sit at an actual sushi bar and watch these amazing chefs work their magic.  It's also a really great distraction from any lacklustre conversation you may be enduring with your dinner date.

            I stopped dead in my tracks when walking through Ponsonby Central recently. I discovered that Tokyo Club have the best solution to outdoor dining in winter, something I have yet to see anywhere else. Their outdoor tables have a flaming heater in the middle of them, much like a brazier.  What a brilliant way to keep you warm while chowing back some sushi. 

              If you choose just one thing on the menu make it the yakatori grilled prawns. All kinds of wonderful going on! It was like a party in my mouth, really good food, really well done. Definately coming back again and again!

                  This place, in Ponsonby Central is based on traditional Japanese laneway dining. Go in for their two-step lunch where you choose your meat and sides, or grab some classic sushi to takeaway. Yum yum!

                    As well as serving up some rather delicious lunch and dinner options, the already-a-hit Tokyo Club in Ponsonby Central also serves up great sushi to go. Apparently the only sushi in Ponsonby prepared by a Japanese chef trained in the culinary art form, you’ll find it on the counter inside being constantly replenished during lunchtime hours. As well as all the favourites they have some great kid friendly sushi packs for sale too, so the whole family are good to go.
