Tongariro National Park is the mother of all national parks in New Zealand. I love that there are so many walking tracks to do in the national park, that each time I go, there's one I haven't tackled before. My latest visit involved walking to the historic Waihohonu Hut - a 6.3km walk return from Desert Road to a hut built circa 1903/1904 by the Government. Great for photography - it covers beech forest and open tussock land, and cross the the Ohinepango Stream. LOVE it!
