Located two kilometres south of Dunedin, the Tunnel Beach Walkway is an easy walking track beginning at the carpark at the end of Tunnel Beach Road. Named after the tunnel which was hand carved in the 1870s to provide access to the secluded beach, the walk takes approximately one hour return.

Visitors can enjoy magnificent coastal scenery en-route including large fossil-filled cliffs, sandstone boulders, arches and headlands.

Considered to be one of the most romantic spots in Dunedin, the beautiful beach is the perfect spot to enjoy a hand in hand evening stroll.

Located along the coast, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, this place is a favourite of mine – it’s perfect for a private beachside picnic too!
