Videon is awesome. There’s a $10 membership fee and rentals aren’t super cheap, but the selection is drool-worthy and it’s just a cinema-lovers dream.

Sunday, couch, hangover and the best selection of art house movies to watch

Rain, rain go away come again another day! Need something to do while the weather is shite? Pop into videon spend ages having a browse and take home five DVD's for the ultimate day in. I love this place because they have a huge selection by director and a decent documentary and cult section.     

In fact I miss going there! So many great selections! ...should take a trip back there soon!

Do you know Videon?  I have friends who drive from 4 suburbs away to rent stuff from here.  Because Videon ROCKS.  It is to video shops what Real Groovy is to run of the mill record stores.  It's a Kiwi icon.  Videon sets the standard - it's just a shame the others haven't realised. Videon is not just a video rental store, it is an independent film library.  Want to see an ancient obscure film?  Ask them, I bet they'll have it.  Arthouse?  Yah.  Foreign language? Czech.  They reckon they have 30,000 titles.  I pity the poor beggar that had to count them but I don't doubt it. Staff are friendly and helpful.  Highly recommended :)

If your having trouble finding a certain film, I suggest you pop into Videon - they’ll probably have it. I like how the store is arranged, it makes finding a movie to watch a lot easier.

Ever since I was a little kid, if we were lucky, we’d be allowed to go to Videon to choose a movie or cartoons, it was the highlight of our week! I do miss the old location only be cause it was closer to my house, but the new store is great! I love the homely art deco-style painted signage, this place is and feels very much independent. No cookie cutter chain video store is this. They have everything. Not almost everything, but actually every single obscure film I’ve ever requested, they’ve had it. I doff my hat. Auckland needs more shops like this one. Beautiful selection of vintage and especially foreign films. Be warned though, you could lose a whole day in here browsing!

The choice is crazy! So many flicks from all decades and genres. You could easily spend an hour in here or more. Love it!
