Walking into Waiau Country Estate is like a breath of fresh air. Internally, it has the essence of a mountain house, with a log wood roof, and a real homy feel without escaping the fine dining. But the view from outside is just amazing, so much that it has been home to multiple weddings over the summer months! Kick back with a glass of wine and take a stroll around the grounds and avocado orchard!

In winter, the crowd favourite seems to be a nice big piece of scotch fillet steak with seafood or a pork belly with some sort of mash. Waiau Country Estate has both of these options on their mouth-watering menu. Also something I’ve come to love in winter is poached pears as a dessert, Waiau do an amazing dessert with them!

Waiau Country Estate has been a favourite of mine to wine and dine, especially with my dad. We have bonded quite a lot over sampling each other’s food and wine. Waiau is only a couple minutes away from Onaero and about a 30 minute drive from New Plymouth, and take it from someone who has driven those 30 minutes almost five times in a year; the food is amazingly good. There is a huge dining area (indoor and outdoor), also with a ‘wool shed’ where they can host parties and events for you. Take some time out to enjoy the food and browse the gardens.
