Okay so not a bakery but their baked goods are good enough to make this list! Their sandwiches are made using bread baked fresh on site. The muffins are ridiculously good too - try the raspberry and white chocolate ones, yum!

    The West Coast Wildlife Centre in Franz Josef is awesome. Head along for a bit of education on the wild west coast, and whilst you’re there make sure you get to their cute little cafe. Read up about the elusive Kiwi and browse the internet to discover more about this national icon.

      This place has it all from wildlife, to great views of the Franz Josef and of course amazing pies! Take your pick from savoury or sweet - either will have you wanting more. Definitely a must visit on your next trip west.

        Discover the wonders of New Zealand wildlife at this new centre in Franz Josef. There's a cafe and bakery which is open daily, and free wifi which means you can post images of Kiwi straight to your Facebook page!

          A welcome new-ish addition to the West Coast, is the charming wildlife park which is all about our cute and flightless national bird - the kiwi. It is the official home to the incubation and captive rearing programme for New Zealand’s rarest kiwis – the Rowi and Haast Tokoeka. Meet some of New Zealand's most iconic creatures and learn all about their state of the art rearing programme. A great day out for the kids and for all nature lovers.
