What a great little spot for kids to enjoy communing with nature. We took my friend's daughter here last weekend and I was blown away by the serenity, beauty and tranquility of this 4.5 acre paradise. To be honest, I can't actually believe that it's in my own backyard and I never discovered it until now. The community gardens are cared for and tended by a passionate group of West Auckland plant-lovers and it's pretty cool that anyone can volunteer to help keep up this very special space. Entry is just $3 and Miss Four was absolutely enchanted by the butterfly house and all of the Monarchs. Now is the time to go because they are all in flight!

These gardens are hidden away in the midst of suburbia, but well worth the hunt.  If you're after a cheaper version of Butterfly Creek, then this is worth a visit.  Make sure you go during monarch butterfly season if you want to visit the quaint butterfly house.  The rest of the gardens are lovely too and worth exploring.  Great if you have kids.  It's a lovely spot to take a picnic and while away a few hours.  You can also gift trees etc in memory or celebration of a loved one - or maybe a pet??

This is a fabulous hidden gem in the middle of well nowhere really.  Only five minutes drive from my home in Blockhouse Bay in Parker road is a lovely little oasis for fans of walking, gardening and especially butterflies. My children came here with their kindy years ago & loved it. Open 10-4pm every day and only $3 entry it is well worth a visit.
