We were looking to for something to do with our toddler on a quiet Saturday. Found the Whangaparaoa Railway online and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. For just $8 per person (free for under 2s) you get a trip on their miniature train, along with entry to the park. There are a number of farm animals including donkeys, chickens and rabbits, along with two fabulous playgrounds. Kids can climb into a small plane and fire engine, or check out one of three playhouses which have a number of toys inside. There is also a bush walk to enjoy, but watch out for the mosquitos!
My son loves the train rides on offer at this little local attraction. Of course the train ride is a big draw card for little kids but there is more on offer, enough for a decent afternoon out. First it's tricky to get past the pedal cars parked outside the entrance but once you make it through inside there is a little bush walk which takes you past some farm animals, notably the giant pigs and you can feed some rather hungry chooks and rabbits which is always a hit with small kids. A decent little wofirm play area this place is worth a look.
This is a favourite family day out to go on the Little Toot railway. Especially when the kids were younger. Popped in there recently and still enjoyed the little train ride around the park with bird aviaries and farm animals. We always follow up the train ride with the small bush walk to see the birds and animals up close. Fairly small & basic but worth the trip. Kids can't help but love a train ride and animal park.
