Great coffee and a read.

Community Libraries have a special place in my heart, as a kid I loved enjoying a quiet book in the corner of my nearest library. To me it is unbeatable. The Whangarei Central library is beautiful and new, and also contains a great cafe for those in need of a quick bite or caffeine fix. Easy search engines on the computers allow for the quick finding of any book you desire.

Whangarei Library is a zen hidey hole in the inner city. Their rows of unusual and brilliant books ensure you've always got something to read. The warm, quiet environment is a sanctuary and such a good place to study. Plus everyone is super nice and helpful if you ever need assistance finding anything - check out the library you book worm!

With the Teen Breakfast Club and Let’s Make More school holiday programmes, Whangarei Library has your everyday activities covered. For the younger ones, Tues-Thurs both weeks they’ll be crafting something new each day, including puppets, dioramas, fabric projects and molding with clay. Teens can head along for movies, a photo competition, games, a dance session, craft projects including band bracelets, hair chalking and steampunk creations, and, if the name didn’t give it away, breakfast.

The wonderful staff at the Whangarei Central Library will have craft activities running for children in the ‘Let’s make it!’ programme. More details coming soon!

The space is well set out with friendly staff members, and a hard-to-resist, good value 'for sale' section.

Burn off some energy with Whangarei Central Library’s ”Stomp Romp” dance workshop, for ages 7-14. Drawing inspiration from popular children’s literature and running for an hour each morning on Tuesday-Thursday both weeks, with free entry. Otherwise, pop along to the movie sessions. Just take a cushion and they provide the snacks.
