Zen

Dale is the new owner of Zen Hair Design and I have recently left my other hairdresser of 8 years to go to her. She does a great job and I always look and feel great when I leave, plus, she uses great products as well. I would highly recommend her even if you are not local as her prices are so reasonable, and it makes the trip worthwhile for a good job done.

I have been going to Sandi for the last two years to get my hair cut and coloured. She does a fantastic job. I always going home extremely happy with my hair.  She gives me awesome advice on what would look good and she is always right. Go along and ask for Sandi you can't lose!

I visited a huge amount of hairdressers to get a good boy's haircut. Trina spent 30min in my boy's head and it was the best I've seen in Auckland. Good price too. The only downside is that you have to book in advance as they're very busy, and I know why.

Zen is tucked away in the Beach Haven shops next to Dominos and Civic Video. Many people probably wouldn't notice it was there with its unassuming shop frontage. Local lady Trina who owns the salon has a wealth of experience, including hair and makeup for large NZ and international magazines. Combine this with her team of professional, hip young ladies and you can get a Ponsonby-quality, modern, trendy cut & colour at half the price of Ponsonby or Newmarket. Not only is this for Beach Haven's young professionals, they also see their fair share of blue rinses, men's cuts and kids chops! Personally I've been going there for years. The girls remember your last conversation, even 6 - 8 weeks on, will happily make you a plunger coffee, herbal tea or get you a glass of water. They offer honest advice as to the cut and colour that will suit your lifestyle, face shape and profession and make you feel at ease (with a good bit of gossip thrown in for good measure!).
