Got the chance to eat at Papparich yesterday. This is an Auckland Malaysian restaurant serving up everything that’s amazing and authentic when it comes to Malaysian cuisine. I fell in love with the chicken roti telur and their legendary chicken skins. Highly recommend this cool, friendly, innovative joint nestled in a lane of little restaurants between Aotea Square and the IMAX building on Queen’s Street.

I’m a massive fan of this awesome Parnell restaurant’s much-loved beef vindaloo. It’s one of the most outstanding Indian restaurants in Auckland and the best thing is you can get their dishes takeaway… oh and delivered, thanks to our friends at UrbanSherpa.

I've heard so many great things about this awesome local gem of a Malaysian restaurant PappaRich from my foodie friends in the know. Located at Sky City Metro, owner Steven is driven to serve up incredibly, authentic Malay dishes to Auckland locals. I haven't yet had a chance to eat there but already hear reports of how tasty their roti canai (my all-time fave Malaysian dish). So much so, I've booked in a date to eat there next week. We headed to The Burger Bach for a Thursday lunch feast and I couldn't help but try the Lambo burger at owner Ryan's recommendation because it's the burger "the locals love". My lunch date opted for their classic Bachelor burger, a caramel milkshake and fries and we were both blown away by the quality of the food and the generous portion sizes. Adam and Ryan have created an amazing burger bar in Takapuna that is a stone's throw from the beach ('cause where else is best for eating burgers), serves up great food and has a really awesome vibe. I've been paleo now for six months and I'm over the moon that there is now a paleo cafe in Auckland. While there's lots of cafes and restaurants that serve up gluten-free and dairy-free options, until now, there's been nowhere you can go to eat that really embraces the ethos of a complete paleo diet. There's no mysteries here - it's just real wholefoods put together in a way that nurtures and nourishes your body. I tried their paleo burger with avo, bacon and kumara fries on the side and it was delicious. I also love that you can buy lots of yummy local products created by passionate Kiwis who are dedicated to helping us be more healthy. Great work Gary and James! I'm so proud that Paleo Cafe is now in my hood.

Out in the South Auckland suburb of Waiuku is this hot little gem for those who want to live healthy. With lots of gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy free options, it’s the perfect place to indulge if you follow a paleo diet or just want to eat well. The staff are very knowledgable too.

One of the most famous organic food stores in New Zealand, Joyce and the team at IE Produce have led the way from the beginning with supporting local food producers. No matter what healthy eating staple you after, IE Produce is bound to have it. A great spot for those who are paleo or follow vegan and vegetarian diets.

If you follow a paleo diet, you have to visit Megan May and the team at littlebird. This is a healthy eating lovers heaven and an awesome place to stop for lunch or pick up a takeaway. I love the ethos behind littlebird, I love that they are Auckland's original organics cafe and I love the love that goes into their food. An amazing place to take out of town visitors.

Just like littlebird, Revive is an original when it comes to providing healthy eats to Aucklanders. I love their salads and their soups. Such a great spot if you are paleo.

My favourite dish at Erawann Thai has been the same since I first discovered it over a decade ago. I just can't go past ordering their delicious panang red chicken curry with crushed peanuts. It's always on point and is my go-to dish when I'm working late in town. What can I say I'm a creature of habit!

I love Good Day in winter for its beautiful soups. Rich, delicious and homemade, the soups at this Orakei cafe are the perfect antidote to a winter's day. They also do a mean brew of Supreme coffee and are locals after my own heart, believing that it's important to "start with a coffee" every day.

There's so much good brewing out of this awesome local business, based in Warkworth. The lads that run Forbidden Brewing Co are clever at creating interesting, world-first ferments. Their cider is crisp, fresh and delicious. My fave is the apple but I can't wait to try their smoked cider. Check them out the next time you are on a roadie up north, just look for the red Cider Shed off State Highway 1.

This is a craft beer lovers' paradise! A freehouse means The Lumsden isn't attached to any brewery so gets to showcase the very best of independent brewers, making it a great place to go for a pint. A lot of my friends are big beer drinkers and they like to pull up a pew here because of the diversity of drinking choices and the relaxed, laidback environment. I also love that there's lots of tasty pub grub up for grabs to complement your brew of choice. Love it!

A visit to Leigh Sawmill Cafe is always a pleasure and never a chore because this place is all about live music and excellent local beer. The staff are friendly and welcoming and I can never resist ordering a pizza because they are so good. They also do them to go.

Enjoyed a phenomenal ladies beer masterclass here with a passionate duo of sisters who play tastemakers at this free house on Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter. I loved Aotearoa Brewing Company’s Mata beer the best. A fantastic idea of a hen’s party or for ladies who love to lunch with a difference.

From the drums and the dancing to my favourite Rarotongan feast of Ika Mata (raw fish salad) and steamed taro leaves, I love everything about Auckland's Pasifika Festival. Ever since it's moved to its new home in Western Springs, it's a bigger, brighter and more culturally rich experience than ever before. If you want to experience all the joy, laughter, fabulous food and entertainment offered by Auckland's Pacific people, this is one festival I highly recommend. And the best bit is entry is free!

A good friend of mine who is Samoan recommended this gem of a local cafe in Mt Albert when I was seeking out the best Pacific feasts in Auckland. I visited last week and was stoked to find taro in coconut cream, a beautiful dish of steamed taro leaves and the best bit of all... $5 curries for lunch. The place was busy with lots of tradesmen coming in to snap up their awesome lunch deal. They do a mean goat curry.

For the cheapest fruit and vege in Auckland and the best Rarotongan donuts, you can't go past the Otara Markets. These are the best markets in South Auckland, by far, and a fantastically rich cultural experience. They say the early bird catches the worm so it's best to get in before the sun rises, shop up a storm then devour a beautiful Pacific breakfast.

It’s one of the hottest restaurants in Ponsonby but what I love most about Orphans Kitchen is their gourmet take on the traditional boil up. Of course, with broth being all the rage, boil up is actually some of the most nutrient-rich food you can get into your body. So whenever my immunity is feeling low, this is the place I come and the dish I choose.

For traditional Polynesian food, Evelina's is another gem. Located in the South Auckland suburb of Manurewa, this is where locals go for the best-value feasts. It's all traditional food here and exactly as you'd find it in the islands. Well worth a visit!
