My Local Favourites
- 118Goodness GraciousEden TerraceI love this cafe on New North Rd because it does very, very good coffee and the most deliciously messy bagels in town. My fave is the Brekkie Bagel - egg, streaky bacon, spinach, aioli and their special sauce. Yum!
- 29Mt Eden (Maungawhau)Mt EdenThe best insider tip that I can give in my local is to take a walk up Mt Eden. My favourite time to go is at night because the city looks precious from up there. The long road is for taking it easy and the short road is steeper. Either way the view from the top is well worth the effort.
- 34The Ancient MarinerMt EdenI LOVE the fish and chips and this place in Mt Eden Road does the best ones in my local. When gurnard is Fish of the Day, I'm a happy lady.
- 428Q TheatreAuckland CentralQ Theatre gets my vote right now for one of the theatres I love most as an actor. The bar and restaurant out the front is a lovely place to be, whether I'm working there or not. But it's the theatre space I love most - four levels of seating and lots of flexibility. I've seen it turned into all sorts of configurations and I'm looking forward to 2015 when I get back in there. Watch this space!
- 517The Corner StoreEden TerraceThis is my local and I love it because it's a great bar. The cool thing about Eden Terrace is that there is just so much right on my doorstep. Along with a good bar like The Corner Store, there are also great pubs, a variety of places to eat (there's too many to list them all but some of my faves are Al Volo, Satya and Bian Sushi), excellent salons like Killer and Helmut. There are lots of people around but it doesn't take itself too seriously. Eden Terrace is a real mix of commercial and residential and that keeps it lively!
