If travelling as a group or couple - sometimes bunking in shared rooms can actually cost more than renting your own room/place. Make sure to check all the options. Also bunking in shared rooms isn’t necessarily for everyone - if travelling alone, take care of your belongings, and if in an unsafe area decide who is more trusting - hostel owner/travellers. Sometimes bunking alone is the less safe option.
