This not for profit cinema is one of a kind. It only exists because the community really really want it here. A treasured local gem it's a place that has charm and is a total must do if you're in town. If you're around Dargaville long enough you can even get into volunteering for the cinema, helping to sell tickets, then you get to watch the movie for free.

    After more than 35 years without a cinema, locals rallied hard to get the Anzac Theatre established. It opened just last year, screening new releases and art house flicks. Be sure to grab a loyalty card for free treats on your way to a free movie. For dinner, head to the crowd-pleasing Shiraz just around the corner, where you’ll find Indian cuisine, pizza, steak, chicken and more.
