Love going to the Avondale Markets. You can get so much fresh of everything. The best thing I personally love about the Markets is the Samoan Banana Pancakes they have for sale. They always remind me of my nana as she used to make them for us when we were little.

Every Sunday morning the Avondale market appears and has been a West Auckland experience for a very long time.  Cheap home grown vegetables and produce, bric a brack stalls cover a large area.  Now & then a true bargain can be found.  Kids often love poking through all the junk in search of that special thing.   Its an experience like all Auckland markets but one that is distinctly Avondale.  Try it you never know you might bag yourself a bargain.   The Asian vegetables are well worth the trip.

The Avondale Markets are ok  if your looking for cheap fruit and vegetables then this is the place to come, there are row after row of what appear to be home growers or similar selling their wares,  significantly cheaper than say the supermarket.  Well worth a stock up if you need some fruit and veges at half price or less.  Due to a lot of the seller and buyers being Asian there is also a significant amount of Asian herbs etc that you wont find any any mainstream supermaket.  All good.   On the other hand, it's usually crowded, parking can be a real pain to find unless you pay for it and most of the other stalls are either $2 shop style Chinese imported stuff or look like straight from inorganic collections.   Nothing wrong with any of this but dont go expecting some sort of fancy tourist type market - definitely one for the locals.

The Avondale Markets is one of the best places in Auckland to buy fresh produce, especially asian greens and herbs - there's lots of choice, everything is fresh and generally a lot cheaper than in the shops. If food isn't your thing, there's still loads to look at and buy. There are bargains to be had at the flea market and there are a variety of stalls selling everything from clothing, to crafts to cut flowers. Open 6am - 12pm every Sunday.
