Whether boiled, fried, or steamed, the dumplings are handmade fresh each day in a variety of mouthwatering flavours, and at wallet-happy prices too. They're especially great with everyone's favourite side dish - the French beans with spicy salt.

All food is divine and I was taken my family and friends there quiet often untill I found out that all food containes Monosodium glutamate (MSG). Wish I knew about it before.

If you’re in the zone for dumplings then it’s common knowledge Dominion Rd is the place to head. Barilla is my favourite of the dumpling houses on the road (although the rest are great). The bright lime green interiors and menus in plastic folders scream no frills but the food is cheap, cheerfull and delicious. I recommend delving into the eggplant, the crispy beans, the fried squid and whichever dumplings grab your fancy! Top night out.

Beef and onion, pork and apple or beef and celery are definitely must haves. Boiled, steamed or fried it doesn’t matter!

Abso stunning dumplings! Got the takeouts and my girlfriend and I managed to eat a box each! I also got the garlic bok choy which is beautiful! Slightly wilted and crunchy with tiny amount of oil and the zing of garlic!! YUMO After tonights trial, its Def worth the trip down Dom Rd to get takeouts some night soon! Only point that was a bit of a nuisance is you have to pour your own soy and vinegar (from the diners tables) - which after a lot of spillage, I managed to do. Would be nice if either they did this or had pre-cupped bottles (like sushi bars do). But I cannot fault the friendly team and Chef Simon Gaults right, the food amazing

Dominion Rd offers so many choices for Chinese cuisine, and Barilla is on top of the 'dumplings' list. The food is delicious and if you're on Dominion Rd, it's a must visit - the pork & chives dumplings were my favourite.

My friends and I are regular diners at barilla dumpling on dominion road, at least once a week. I can’t recommend it enough! We especially adore the sizzling eggplant in spicy garlic sauce, fried French beans, vermecilli dumplings, griddle fried pork fillets and the chive pancakes. Barilla have even recently tried to add a touch of ‘glamour’ with a refurbishment which includes a big flat screen t.v. We are looking forward to discovering what this is for! They have also added more space which is fantastic. Keep it up barilla we love you!!

Best dumplings in Auckland

Such an impressive range of flavours - and priced at only $8.00 for 20 dumplings, this place is perfect for a meal. I would recommend paying the $1 extra for fried dumplings, as long as your not counting calories too closely - they really do taste a lot better, but steamed are also still good. The dumplings are definately the best value on the menu, but they also still have a wide range of other dishes, I've only tried the garlic bok choi, which definitely got a bit same-ish, but was nice to have between dumplings. They have nice big tables, so take a group of friends and share the flavours around.

A phenomenon so hot that it even had its own Twitter hashtag for a while, Barilla Dumpling turn out what are widely believed to be Auckland’s finest Sichuan dumplings. Reportedly over 37 varieties of dumplings at that, all from a petite premises on the legendary Dominion Road.
