Batemans makes the claim that it's so much more than a bakery. But then again, when you are a successful baker there isn't really any need to be anything else.

Bob is the owner and head baker at Batemans bakery and he has been creating puffy pastries in Taranaki for years. They are famous for creating the famous international pies which complimented the Rugby World Cup teams. Each pastry was filled with traditional ingredients like turkey and cranberry for USA, stroganoff for the Russians and beef and Guinness for the Irish.

Batemans Bakery is right in the middle of town so they’re always busy, and always sold out by the end of the day. Their bread is delicious, it’s so much nicer here than just buying it from the supermarket! Its baked fresh every day which sound so enticing, it’s definitely worth the few extra dollars to get it fresh. They also have a delicious selection of pies and pastries that are quite famous around Taranaki.

There are two smells in the morning which I love. Freshly baked bread and coffee roasting. That's why walking past Batemans and not going in is basically impossible. If you want to try hot cross buns in New Plymouth then you have to get the ones from Batemans. All their breads are baked fresh every day but you want to be in quick here as they do sell out quickly.
