One of Wellington’s best-loved brunch locations - because of its awesome menu, sunny location and dog-friendly stance (order a meal for your dog!). I highly recommend eggs, rosti (some of Wellington’s best) and haloumi with hollandaise.

And just like that song makes you sing along and feel all nostalgic beach babylon makes you do the same - although me and my partner were sitting in the inside/outside area on a rainy day rapping along to a melody from 2006. We both got the Venison burger...burger was really yummy (looooved the beetroot relish!!) but these guys sell curly fires and damn were they good...my mouth is watering so much thinking of it...don't go here without having their curly fires - even if it's just to get  a cheeky Friday Tiki Cocktail!!

The best thing about this retro beachside eatery is their selection of fondues. They’ve got cheese for the purists and butterscotch for those with a sweet tooth. A group of your fave girls around a pot of fondue is a guaranteed good night! Don’t forget, the first person to drop into the fondue pot shouts the first round of drinks!

Beach Babylon goes above and beyond to cater to you and your pooch. With a doggie menu, boasting treats like ‘pupsicles’ and beef mince, it’s worth a stop here the next time you and your four legged friends take a stroll down Oriental Parade. Whether you’re a pet owner or just a joyful admirer like myself, this retro-inspired cafe is a haven for canine cuties. Come for brunch or lunch, or give the inspired fondue dinner a try!

This is a recent addition to my BYO spots but I’d say it’s here to stay. The staff are great and I’ve seen them cope with large crowds with patience and a sense of humour (key if you’re working at a BYO). The best thing about this retro beachside eatery is their selection of fondues. They’ve got cheese for the purists and butterscotch for those with a sweet tooth. Don’t forget, the first person to drop into the fondue pot shouts the first round of drinks! Situated on Oriental Bay you know you’ll have a satisfying walk to your next destination with the ocean views and a belly full of fondue.

I went to Beach Babylon with friends for dinner the other night and while the food was impeccable, it was the cheese fondue that really got me. My friends and I all love a bit of spice in our life, so the chilli, smoked paprika and aged cheddar cheese with fresh sourdough really got us going! Old traditions claim that the first to lose their bread in the cheesy goodness has to shout the first round. We played by this rule for the duration of our fondue experience and needless to say, I was so eager to get as much of the chilli cheesy deliciousness into my mouth that I didn't pay a dime for my drinks!!

Picturesque and sun-drenched outside in summer, cosy, close and warm in winter, this cool little retro cafe based on beautiful Oriental Parade. has it all. No better way to spend a chilled out day off than meandering along the waterfront before perching yourself at a table by the window to watch the sun set. Open 'til late, evening-goers are rewarded with delicious sweet and savoury fondue from 5.30, with the blue choose option not for the faint hearted! An inspired menu includes delicious sangria by the jug, feijoa mojitos and boutique beers. Rumour has it they've added winter cocktails to their menu too...

OK, get this. Beach Babylon crafts canine *beer*. I'm not even kidding, they serve pampered pooches an alcoholic concoction of beef stock mixed with beer - and it's fit for human consumption. You can also get mutt mince or soup for your pooch - talk about spoiling your bestie!

Only just discovered how good Beach Babylon’s food is. Three weeks on the trot now, and just keeps getting better. Amazing food, and no more expensive than anywhere else!  Beach Babylon used to have a name for being expensive & fancy. Now it's just great honest food that's very reasonably priced. Staff here make you want to just keep coming back.

Boom- Wednesday is over and the sun is out!! What a way to start the evening with a snack and a classic lemonade.
