Bistro 1284 has a more rustic and cozy appearance, but the food is still fine dining that rivals Mokoia. Bistro 1284 is also award laden, and has been particularly successful when it comes to NZ beef and lamb. The menu fuses fine European dining (particularly French) with traditional NZ dishes. The menu is not too over-whelming and is well-curated. Price float around the $35-$40 mark.
So this place is right next to Chimney Indian, which means yet again it’s also across the road from Readings Cinema. It may seem like his list is going on "proximity to the cinema" but really, this is one of the best place to eat in Rotorua (whether you’re going to the movie or not!). This boutique restaurant delivers a small but excellent menu. All the dishes are full of flavour, with meats that melt in your mouth… and the presentation is always beautiful. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want food which is above the average fare.
