Blagdon has a special something in their shop, not only do they do amazingly seasoned fried chicken, but they give you the option of having it on its own, in a snack box with chips, or in a bun with lettuce, mayo, and cheese to give you the ultimate hangover cure! Although this is probably some of the greasiest fried chicken, that being said it’s not overly greasy and it’s perfect when you get that unhealthy food craving!

The crisp and buttery pastry, mixed with succulent pieces of steak or chicken in a delicious gravy make up how Blagdon make their pies. I love their butter chicken, it’s like a fusion of kiwi and Indian and it simply leaves you craving more, especially for the cheap price they’re sold for!

Blagdon bakery is always packed at lunch time, between the hours of twelve and two don’t expect to just pop in and out because you might have to wait a couple more minutes! I’ve travelled from the other side of town just to get lunch from this particular bakery. I love their blueberry muffins; they’re humongous and so cheap too! They’re also quite famous for their pies, my favourite has changed every now and then but I think I’ve settled on the butter chicken pie; it’s a kiwi classic!

My regular lunch time favourite has done it for me again; each time I go in I try something different and I'm not disappointed! They definitely need to expand and open another store in New Plymouth, it would be a huge hit! I tried a Custard Tart for the first time and it was delicious! As a custard lover, I give it a 10/10!

Blagdon Bakery is my local, and all-time favourite bakery to go to for pastries, hot chips, sandwiches, but most importantly; pies. I tried a Steak and Kumara pie from there the first time the other day and I think it’s now my new favourite. They have at least twelve different pies, and some others I haven’t even tried yet, but am planning to! The flavours are real and they don’t skimp on the ingredients. The staff are always so friendly and it makes it an easy choice when deciding where to have lunch.
