Despite Ponsonby going posh there is still one bohemian hangout left. Cezanne has being going strong for nearly 30 years. Current owners Jackie and Rod believe in offering good value meals in a relaxed and causal atmosphere. The breakfast servings are huge and stacked with protein for those foggy mornings. There are gluten free meals with a good range of vegetarian or vegan options.

Private rooms are available for birthday get-togethers with uncensored speeches. Check out the $20 Sunday to Tuesday dinner special with a complementary glass of wine or beer.

Cafe Cezanne is a fantastic spot for late night treats. They are open late, so we always keep them in mind for somewhere to go for a reasonably priced dessert. They have lots of options in the cabinet, everything always looks delicious! They also have the largest hot chocolates you'll ever see. They have quite a cool vibe going.

This has become my default place for meeting friends at if its an awkward time of day for a small meal or cake (4pm or after 7pm). They are open early to late. I just love their cake selection (rocket kitchen cakes mostly by the slice so yum, you cant normally get rocket kitchen cakes by the slice from rocket kitchen down the road!). And their menu is quite intersting and well priced with a nice cabinet selection too of lasagne etc. Coffee and chai lattes are yum too and it has a very nice atmosphere to sit it.

My first visit - hard to believe - and what a great place to chill and eat good real food. I had the chicken filo on a kumera mash with mustard infusion, it was overflowing with chicken in a great sauce (mustard hint again), really filling and really nourishing. I was flip-flopping between that that the vege wrap, both from the white board menu. Tossed back a smoothy also then a coffee and afgan - ahhhh. The recommended dish and service was great and very relaxed, I'll be back for more.

I came here for lunch on Sunday, it seemed to be one of the few cafes with some seats available. I didn't know what to expect, but loved the alternative vibe of the place with the painted wall murals and wooden tables. I ordered a beef burger as I hadn't yet had breakfast but the size was a bit much for me, quite yummy though! The coffees were great and the cabinet full of sweet treats was so tempting, I went back for a chocolate crackle, haven't had one of those since I was a kid! Love those things! Overall very nice and mostly friendly staff. I imagine this would be a perfect spot for cakes and coffee in the evening, good to know they are open late!

Just had the Baileys and Choc Brownie Cheesecake last night - was aaaamazing!! Just had to share :)

When I first moved to Auckland I came across this awesome cafe which reminded me so much of the funky/alternative cafes I used to visit back in Cuba St (Wellington). It has become a regular for me because I love the atmosphere, delicious, hearty food, and friendly, down to earth staff. There is something to please everyone at any time of the day. Their 'bowls' of hot chocolate really hit the spot on a cold day, the seafood chowder is done to perfection and their cheesecakes are seriously wicked. Cafe Ce Zanne always delivers and is somewhere I always love to introduce my friends to!

I have no idea how long Cafe Cezanne has been serving up excellent coffee and cake in Ponsonby, but it's been a semi-regular stop for me for as long as I can remember. Nice and airy in the summer, and cosy in the winter, Cezanne is a classic Auckland cafe that has barely changed over the last decade.

I have to say this is the only place I've ever been to with a mexican dish on offer for brekkkie!  The food is lovely, hot chocolate comes by the bowl and the staff are friendly and attentive.  Lovely little Sunday morning stop off.

I remember coming to Ce Zanne when i was a kid with my mum, I loved it. I haven’t been there recently but i used to love the paintings on the wall, they always amazed me and added a certain feel to the cafe. The staff were always so friendly and lovely, always made you feel welcome The nachos were and I’m hoping still are amazing! That’s the only thing I would ever order from here. All in all a fabulous cafe.
