If you're looking to spend a day at the pools, the Genesis Energy Recreation Centre is a popular local hang-out.

Whether you want to keep fit or just to splash around with your mates, there are plenty of enjoyable features available. Race your friends in the lane pool, take turns on the hydro slide, and unwind at the end of the day in the hot, relaxing spa.

Also available is the great on-site gym, featuring resistance machines, free weights, and plenty of group fitness programmes to keep you fit.

This swimming pool is really impressive, the kids will love it! Complete with hydroslides it's a great way for the kids to burn off energy especially during the winter. You can easily spend the whole day there!

    The CLM Chill Out School Holiday programme is an excellent way to keep kids occupied during the school holidays. Based at the centre, there’s plenty of room for kids to run, swim and play when they’re not out on a fun trip. All kinds of entertainment is planned including a games show/quiz day, movies, a seniors rock climbing trip, super sports day, a bake off, mini disco, juniors trip to inflatable world, zumba and wheels day and seniors go karting. WINZ subsidies are also available to keep costs down.

      Kids will love the recreation centre’s pool and you could spend a good two or three hours here. As well as a hydroslide, there is a rapid river, a shallow toddlers pool, outdoor diving pool, and outdoor water slides. Learn to swim classes are also held for all ages.

        Get your kids involved in the Chill Out School Holiday Programme held by the centre from 22 April to 2 May. As well as swimming at the centre’s pool, there will be a triathlon, a cook off, a skating day, movies, arts and crafts, a carnival day and outdoor adventures. Each day has different prices depending on the activity. Of course, you can make a day of it at the pool if you don’t want to join the holiday programme and have some fun in the park right across the road. The pool boasts a Rapid River, Hydro slide, Speed Slide and Dive Well for hours of fun and there are plenty of lanes for serious swimming. After a swim, head over to the kid’s playground in Queen Elizabeth Park and have a picnic. Mr Whippy is usually stationed nearby for some cool treats.
